Leonie McKeon was a Negotiation Expert, International Author, Expert in the 36 Strategies (derived from Sun Tzu, 'The Art of War'), China-Educated Strategist, Business Consultant, Keynote Speaker, and Workshop Presenter. In addition to her tertiary qualifications in Anthropology and Business, Leonie was well travelled and extremely street wise.
She had lived and worked in the Greater China Region for several years where she learnt Mandarin Chinese and observed the mastery of Chinese negotiation strategies in business and daily life. She realised that for Chinese people, negotiation is a normal practice of everyday life. The Greater China Region is full of markets where people are always doing a deal. They may be simply bargaining for the price of vegetables and other essential daily items or something as large as a business or property. Consequently, Chinese people learn to negotiate from a very young age and continue this practice in their daily activities.
The 36 Strategies are usable in any Western business environment as well as when negotiating with Chinese people. Leonie was a world expert on the interpretation and usage of the 36 Strategies in the contemporary business world. She realised that the 36 Strategies are not only the keys to understanding Chinese thinking and behaviour, the Strategies are also the gems that can turn Western people into expert negotiations.
To share her unique knowledge about the use of these clever Strategies, Leonie systematically unpicked each of the 36 Strategies. Through this unpicking, she identified modern day examples of how each of these strategies are used.
Leonie enabled people to feel confident playing the game of negotiation, and therefore be able to enjoy negotiating with Chinese people or in any other business environment.
In June 2023 Leonie McKeon died suddenly and unexpectedly. Her wonderful enduring legacy remains in the form of her books “The Dao of Negotiation: The Path between Easter strategies and Western Mind”, and in her profound and generous gift as an organ donor.
